Flathead National Forest
Nice! Deep in Flathead National Forest in Montana, this is a free campground with vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Four-wheel drive strongly recommended, and possibly required depending on season. Had campground all to myself. Enough room for one or two vehicles per site. No cell service. Located in beautiful National Forest just west of Glacier National Park. Uniquely well-equipped give how remote it is. Strongly recommended!

Snow, and when this opens
The nearest automatic snow station is Grave Creek at 4,350 ft, about 8 miles away. It sits about 269 ft lower than this camp, so treat it as a guide rather than a reading for this spot. We do not repeat a depth here, because any number we stored would be stale by the time you read it — the station publishes today's.
How we know this
What we don’t know
A land record can put you within a few metres of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- How many rigs actually fit
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
