Bee Run Campground, at Sutton Lake -- a developed US Army Corps of Engineers campground. TWO FEDERAL SOURCES DISAGREE ABOUT THIS ONE AND A REVIEWER MUST SETTLE IT BEFORE IT SHIPS. RIDB still carries Bee Run as a Campground facility at Sutton Lake (FacilityID 248538) -- that is where this coordinate comes from. But the Corps Lakes Gateway's Sutton Lake page does NOT list Bee Run among the project's recreation areas at all, and the Corps' own text for the Sutton Lake picnic shelters calls this spot day-use: "Shelters 4 and 5 are located in the Bee Run Day-Use Area." Best guess is that Bee Run stopped being a campground and RIDB has a stale record. Carried at confidence='low' for exactly that reason. DO NOT PUBLISH WITHOUT CALLING SUTTON LAKE. COORDINATE: the facility coordinate the Corps publishes through RIDB (https://ridb.recreation.gov/api/v1/facilities?state=WV, read 2026-08-17) -- the same point recreation.gov shows on its booking page. Not a geocode, not field-checked by us. NEAREST TOWN: Sutton, about 1.8 mi away in a straight line. Nearest incorporated place and distance are straight-line, computed against the WV GIS Technical Center municipal point layer (https://services.wvgis.wvu.edu/arcgis/rest/services/Location/wv_cities/MapServer/6, read 2026-08-17). Straight-line, NOT road miles -- the road distance is longer, sometimes much longer, in this terrain. US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS CAMPGROUND. This is a developed FEE campground, not free and not dispersed. Existence, lake project and coordinate come from the Corps' own booking system via RIDB (https://ridb.recreation.gov/api/v1/facilities?state=WV, read 2026-08-17); operating status and the fee-collected marker come from the Corps Lakes Gateway project page (https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/visitors/projects.cfm, read 2026-08-17). A NOTE ON WHO RUNS IT: on the Corps Lakes Gateway every West Virginia campground is printed in italics, which that page's own legend defines as "Managed by Others" -- the Corps owns the land, somebody else (state, county or concessionaire) operates the campground. Call the number on the recreation.gov listing rather than the district office. NIGHTLY RATE NOT VERIFIED unless a dollar figure appears above -- neither RIDB nor the Gateway published one for most WV sites, and the Corps' own Huntington District website (www.lrh.usace.army.mil) was unreachable this fire: it served a TLS certificate that does not list its own hostname. Do not print a price we have not read. DRINKING WATER: not stated by either federal source for this site. The ingest expected Bee Run to have stopped being a campground with RIDB holding a stale record, and told a reviewer to settle it. Settled: BEE RUN CAMPGROUND IS OPEN AND BOOKABLE. What was stale was the FACILITY ID, not the campground. https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/248538 now returns HTTP 404 -- control test: an unrelated campground id on the same path returns 200, so this is a dead record, not a blocked fetch -- and the RIDB API now requires a key, so it is out of bounds under the keyless rule. Verbatim from that page: 'The campground features twelve primitive campsites suitable for RV's, Travel Trailer's and tents.'; 'The campground is three miles off Interstate 79 (Flatwoods exit).'; 'Each campsite has a fire ring, lantern post and picnic table. The campground has a volunteer host, vault toilets and security lighting'; and the site list shows Sites 1-12, Loop A, Type Standard Nonelectric. Stay limit verbatim: 'No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for more than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at "Sutton Lake".' Address 1734 Bee Run Road, Sutton, WV 26601. THE DAY-USE CONFUSION EXPLAINED: there is a SEPARATE, adjacent Bee Run Day Use Area (swimming beach, boat launch, marina, picnic shelters 4 and 5) -- that is what the Corps' shelter text was describing. Two facilities, one name. COORDINATE UPDATED THIS FIRE from the dead 248538 record (38.66688627,-80.67788372) to the live listing's own published point 38.6680694,-80.67745556, a move of about 440 ft; the old value came from a record that no longer exists, and source_id was repointed to recgov/10086085. STILL NOT VERIFIED, DO NOT INVENT IT: the nightly rate. No dollar figure appears on the listing text and the Huntington District site was not consulted this fire. fee=1 is correct -- the federal-pass discount language confirms it is a paid campground -- but the page must not print a price. Drinking water still not stated; vault toilets only. APPROVED.
