How we grade camps
The whole product is one promise: we tell you how we know a thing, and how sure we are. No fake pins, no invented scenery. Here's the machinery.
Where a camp comes from
Every camp climbs the same ladder. It starts trusted and gets more trusted as real people touch it.
The confidence ladder
Every camp — and eventually every fact on it — carries one of these. Stale and Unknown are shown, never routed on.
Checked, recently
Dave field-tested it, or enough recent community confirmations. Safe to route on.
Trusted, not yet confirmed
From the world-class list + Dave's research, but nobody's re-checked this exact spot lately. Where most camps sit today.
Was true once
An old report. Shown so you know it exists — never used in a supply run.
We won't guess
No trustworthy source. Badged plainly instead of faked into a pin.
The rules we hold
- No fabricated data or stats — ever. If we can't source it, we leave an honest gap.
- Every number is an estimate with a visible range and its assumptions. Decision support, not travel advice.
- We never claim natural water is potable. Treat everything.
- Auto-drafted camp write-ups stay hidden from search until a human passes them.
- Coordinates and facts are public and not copyrightable; there's no claim-staking on public land — so we share freely.
Right now, most of the ~215 camps sit at Likely — a world-class recommendation plus Dave's research. They move up as Dave and the community put boots on them. That climb, out in the open, is the trust.
