Ask about this camp →The land manager lists this site. Someone from the agency inventoried it, so it is a real camp — not a spot we guessed at. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Chaco Culture National Historical Park -- the only campground in the park, about a mile east of the visitor center, and the base for anyone wanting the night sky over Chaco. FEE: NPS lists "$20.00 per night", with Senior/Access pass holders at "$10.00 per site, per night". SIZE: "26 individual sites and 2 group sites". RESERVATIONS: the park says "We recommend making a reservation on www.recreation.gov", adding that "All unreserved campsites will become available on a first-come, first-served basis". FACILITIES: "The campground has water and restrooms with flush toilets, but no showers or hook-ups". STAY LIMIT: "Camping is limited to 30 days in a calendar year, and 14 consecutive days at a time". SEASON: "Open all year. Closed 6 nights: the night before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, December 24th, December 25th, December 31st and January 1st". ACCESS CAVEAT: Chaco is reached by long unpaved county roads that can be impassable when wet -- check conditions with the park before committing a low-clearance vehicle. NOTE: an older park news page (nps.gov/chcu/learn/news/camping-limits.htm) records a period when the park "suspended all group camping" and "reduced the number of regular camp sites from 49 to 35"; the figures above are from the current camping page and supersede it. Coordinate is the NPS Public POIs national dataset pin (mapservices.nps.gov, read 2026-08-17). SOURCE: https://www.nps.gov/chcu/planyourvisit/camping.htm | auto:agency-trust 2026-08-18: state agency GIS record with a source URL and coordinates, confidence not low. Fee value is the agency's own, not field-checked. Not field-verified -- confirm access, road conditions and fire rules before you go.

What we don’t know about Gallo Campground
A land record can put you within a few meters of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
- Whether a listed EV charger works today, or the road miles to it
