• No named surface water mapped within 1 mi of the pin in USGS's National Hydrography Dataset (data refreshed October 2022), and none within about a mile and a half in our OpenStreetMap pull — which is not proof there is none, only that neither map has one. Plan to carry washing water as well as drinking water.
• Ground slope around the pin: about 2.5% — flat. Measured on USGS's 3DEP elevation model (1 m data here), sampled every 10 metres around the point. That is the hillside, not the ground under your wheels — a graded pullout or a bench a few metres across is too small to show up at that spacing, and nobody has checked this one for you.

  Under four wheels: the lidar under a truck parked at the pin tilts about 7.2°, downhill toward the south. Facing north, that is nose up 7.0° and left side down 1.6°. The flattest truck-sized spot the model finds within 25 m (82 ft) of the pin is about 35 ft to the west-southwest (bearing 255°), where the same truck would sit no tilt front to back (under 0.1°) and right side down 0.1°. Computed by Dispersed 3D on October 14, 2026 from USGS 3DEP 1 m lidar (AZ_SouthWest_D23); bare ground, so a graded pad, a rock or a rut is not in it; nobody has stood on it for this.

  Sky over the pin: the aerial photograph shows about 0% tree canopy in the 18 m cell around the pin. The ground's own horizon from the pin stands highest at 4.2° toward the west (bearing 261°) and lowest at −0.4° toward the north-northwest (bearing 335°). Computed by Dispersed 3D on October 14, 2026: the canopy from USGS NAIP imagery, flown June 18, 2023; the horizon from USGS 3DEP elevation (cells of about 9 m), bare ground, trees not counted; nobody has stood on it for this.   The sun leaves camp early: on October 14, 2026 it goes behind the ground's own skyline to the west about 5:48 PM, about 16 minutes before the almanac's sunset at 6:04 PM. Shade, not dark: daylight lasts past sunset. Bare ground; the trees take a few more minutes. • No rail line is mapped within 10 mi of the pin in the FRA/BTS North American Rail Network (data updated Jul 21, 2026) — abandoned, lifted and out-of-service track excluded, so a rail-trail does not count as one.
• Interstate 10 is mapped ~0.8 mi from the pin. Straight-line, from the Census's TIGER/Line primary roads (TIGER/Line 2025, released Oct 2025) — the divided, limited-access highways, which is why a state expressway or a two-lane US route near this camp would not appear here.
• Assume no services at all. Most dispersed camping in a national forest has none: no tap, no power, no dump, often no toilet. Everything you need, you bring.
• Power: Dave carries his own — batteries or solar. A generator will run your rig and it is also the thing everybody camped near you can hear.
