Agency-confirmed — The managing agency's own record names this as a campsite and puts it at these coordinates. About as good as it gets short of standing here.
How it was placed
Back-country walk-in site. ODNR State Forests Guide: "Remote park & pack camp-sites are available on a permit basis at Mohican-Memorial State Forest for novice backpackers interested in short treks and secluded camps." ACCESS CHANGED 2025: the forest brochure still says "Seven back-country park and pack campsites are available on a self-registration basis only", but since September 1, 2025 ODNR requires a valid digital permit booked through the Forestry Camping Reservation System (OH|ID login) - reserve up to 90 days ahead, 14 days per 30-day window, max 10 people per site, max 2 sites, check-in 3pm / check-out 1pm. ODNR states there is no charge to open an account or to make/cancel a reservation and publishes no nightly rate; treated as free under the project rule (not National Forest, not developed). ODNR GIS lists ten park-and-pack points but sites 8, 9 and 10 are marked INACTIVE with the comment "Forestry closed permanently - 2025" and were NOT imported. Coordinates from ODNR Points of Interest GIS layer, https://gis.ohiodnr.gov/arcgis/rest/services/OIT_Services/ODNR_POI/MapServer/0 (read 2026-08-14). State forest camping rule OAC 1501:3-3-06: no permit for more than 14 days in any 30-day period; max 10 persons per campsite. OAC 1501:3-3-01: camping only in designated areas. OAC 1501:3-3-07 caps state forest camping at $46/night and lets the chief waive fees - it is a ceiling, not the charged rate.
