On most of their ground you can camp away from developed sites pretty much anywhere — so treat this as a known-good spot, not the only one allowed. The unit sets stay limits and how far off road and water you must be. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
FREE BLM undeveloped camping area, used as the RV base camp for OHV riding in the Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area north of Rock Springs. FEE, BLM's own Fees field: "no fee". BLM's description verbatim: "This camping area used by large recreation vehicles to serve as a base camp for OHV use in the Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area. Because it is typically used by self-contained vehicles, no facilities are offered at this location. This area is a fee free site and is ADA Accessible." [sic] SELF-CONTAINED ONLY -- no toilet, no water, no table, nothing. ACCESS: "Take State Highway 191 north of Rock Springs to mile marker 10. East on County Road 4-17 twenty-seven miles to the site." BLM's standard stay limit on Wyoming public land is 14 days; where BLM states it on the site's own page it is quoted below. BLM does not print a stay limit on this page. NOTE FOR THE REVIEWER: we already carry "Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area Campground" about 4.3 km away; that is the play area's own pin, this is the named camping area. Coordinate is BLM's own published facility point from gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (read 2026-08-17), cross-checked against the Geographic Coordinates printed on the site's own blm.gov page. It is a facility pin, not a surveyed campsite. SOURCE: https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/262649/1
--- NIGHT-SHIFT REVIEW 2026-08-19 (nightshift-verified) -- APPROVED.
Re-fetched https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/262649/1 this fire. The page is live and still titled "North Table Rock Camping Area | Wyoming". The Fees section still reads "no fee" and the description is still word for word what this row quotes, including "Because it is typically used by self-contained vehicles, no facilities are offered at this location." BLM's printed Geographic Coordinates are still 41.940763, -109.0374, matching this row to the digit. Cross-checked the same day against gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (layer 8, BLM Natl RIDB Facilities Camping). CHECKED THE NEIGHBOUR CLAIM: an Overpass query against OpenStreetMap (overpass-api.de, run 2026-08-19) puts the mapped "Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area Campground" node 4,329 m from this pin. This row said "about 4.3 km away" -- exact. Two separate places, both kept. ONE HONEST CAVEAT ADDED TONIGHT: that same Overpass query finds no mapped highway within 1.9 km of this pin, and Chilton Road (OSM ref "CR 17", which is BLM's County Road 4-17) is 4.0 km off. OSM road coverage in the Red Desert is thin, so that is weak evidence of anything -- but do not expect to arrive at this exact coordinate on a road. It is a base-camp area in open country, which is what BLM describes and what camp_type=ohv already says. Nothing this row claims has changed since it was written.

What we don’t know about North Table Rock Camping Area
A land record can put you within a few meters of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
- Whether a listed EV charger works today, or the road miles to it
