Treat this as a dry, self-contained stop with a handy tap, not a serviced campground. With that said: the Town of Odessa lets you camp here THREE NIGHTS AT NO CHARGE, tent or RV, first come first served, with restrooms available and rigs up to about 40 feet reported to fit. It is a small mowed-grass park right in the middle of town at E 1st Ave and S 2nd St -- one block south of Reiman Park, the town's day-use city park -- so you can walk to the cafe, the grocery and the tavern, which is exactly the point: Odessa is a German-heritage wheat town of about a thousand people out in the channeled scablands on SR-28, and it offers the park free hoping you will spend a little downtown. Do that. Two things to know: the park is NOT on Google Maps and is easy to drive past -- aim for the 1st Ave and 2nd St corner and look a block south of the city park -- and it fills with RVs for a week around Deutschesfest, the third full weekend of September, when the overflow camping at the school's Finney Field is a paid, separate thing ($10-$40) and is NOT this park. Confidence is MEDIUM: the 'no charge' wording comes from the Chamber of Commerce's official lodging page (which also names the Town as the owner) and is backed by the fest's own FAQ and by current traveller reports, but the town's own website never prints the price, and because the park is unmapped our pin is accurate only to about half a block. Confirm the current rules with the Town of Odessa (509-982-2401) before you go, and leave it better than you found it.
