The land manager lists this site. Someone from the agency inventoried it, so it is a real camp — not a spot we guessed at. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Tatum is a small ranching-and-oil town on US-380/NM-206 in Lea County, southeast New Mexico, and its free municipal campground -- Randolph Rampy Park, right next to the city park at 198 N Eubank Avenue -- is an unusually generous one: camper reports and the town's listing describe roughly six to eight pull-through RV sites with water, 30-amp electric, sewer hookups AND a dump station, all free, with a three-day limit. Full hookups at no charge is rare, so treat it as a genuine find but confirm it is still free and working when you arrive. There are picnic tables and grills, grassy shaded areas and toilets nearby (no showers), and it is reported quiet after dark. FREE-STATUS CAVEAT: the Town of Tatum has no web page confirming this that we could find, so the free status and rules come from consistent camper reports rather than the town -- call Tatum Town Hall to confirm before you rely on it. The deal these towns offer is simple: camp free, and they hope you buy fuel, groceries or dinner in town. Be a good guest and it stays free for the next traveler. Town rules change often and we have not visited -- confirm current rules with the town before you go.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Coordinates: OSM way 613972945 'Tatum RV', tourism=caravan_site, immediately adjacent to OSM way 613972922 'Tatum City Park'; pin verified INSIDE the caravan_site way by point-in-polygon against api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/way/613972945/full.json, 2026-07-21. Street address 198 N Eubank Ave, Tatum, NM 88267. FREE status + rules from consistent, recent, undisputed camper sourcing: boondockinglocations.com/rampy-park-tatum (labels it 'Public - City Park (Official)', 'This is a FREE campsite', 'You may stay 3 Days', ~6-8 pull-through RV spots with water, 30-amp electric, sewer and a dump station), corroborated by The Dyrt and AllStays. No City/Town of Tatum web page for it was found (Tatum pop. ~800), so despite the strong, undisputed reporting it is confidence='med'. Not visited. Verified 2026-07-21. --- NIGHTSHIFT REVIEW 2026-08-21 (fire 1220, leftover backlog) --- HOLDS UP. Re-read boondockinglocations.com/rampy-park-tatum this fire; still verbatim 'This is a FREE campsite', still 'You may stay 3 Days at Rampy Park', still typed 'Public - City Park (Official)', and still listing water, 30-amp electric, sewer and a dump station. OSM way 613972945 'Tatum RV' still live (v2, tourism=caravan_site) at this coordinate. As at ingest there is no Town-of-Tatum web page for it (pop. ~800), so despite strong and undisputed reporting this stays MEDIUM. Street address 198 N Eubank Ave, Tatum NM 88267. APPROVED.
