Randolph Rampy Park (Tatum)
Tatum is a small ranching-and-oil town on US-380/NM-206 in Lea County, southeast New Mexico, and its free municipal campground -- Randolph Rampy Park, right next to the city park at 198 N Eubank Avenue -- is an unusually generous one: camper reports and the town's listing describe roughly six to eight pull-through RV sites with water, 30-amp electric, sewer hookups AND a dump station, all free, with a three-day limit. Full hookups at no charge is rare, so treat it as a genuine find but confirm it is still free and working when you arrive. There are picnic tables and grills, grassy shaded areas and toilets nearby (no showers), and it is reported quiet after dark. FREE-STATUS CAVEAT: the Town of Tatum has no web page confirming this that we could find, so the free status and rules come from consistent camper reports rather than the town -- call Tatum Town Hall to confirm before you rely on it. The deal these towns offer is simple: camp free, and they hope you buy fuel, groceries or dinner in town. Be a good guest and it stays free for the next traveler. Town rules change often and we have not visited -- confirm current rules with the town before you go.
