Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Robert W. Craig Campground, at Jennings Randolph Lake -- a developed US Army Corps of Engineers campground. Corps: "The Robert W. Craig Campground is located off West Virginia State Highway Route 46, five miles from Elk Garden, West Virginia." Gateway lists it open, fee-collected, reservable, with primitive sites and a group shelter. Jennings Randolph Lake straddles the WV/MD line; this campground is on the West Virginia side. Corps note worth keeping: "The resident bald eagles have been breeding at Jennings Randolph Lake for over 10 years." COORDINATE: the facility coordinate the Corps publishes through RIDB (https://ridb.recreation.gov/api/v1/facilities?state=WV, read 2026-08-17) -- the same point recreation.gov shows on its booking page. Not a geocode, not field-checked by us. NEAREST TOWN: Elk Garden, about 3.0 mi away in a straight line. Nearest incorporated place and distance are straight-line, computed against the WV GIS Technical Center municipal point layer (https://services.wvgis.wvu.edu/arcgis/rest/services/Location/wv_cities/MapServer/6, read 2026-08-17). Straight-line, NOT road miles -- the road distance is longer, sometimes much longer, in this terrain. US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS CAMPGROUND. This is a developed FEE campground, not free and not dispersed. Existence, lake project and coordinate come from the Corps' own booking system via RIDB (https://ridb.recreation.gov/api/v1/facilities?state=WV, read 2026-08-17); operating status and the fee-collected marker come from the Corps Lakes Gateway project page (https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/visitors/projects.cfm, read 2026-08-17). A NOTE ON WHO RUNS IT: on the Corps Lakes Gateway every West Virginia campground is printed in italics, which that page's own legend defines as "Managed by Others" -- the Corps owns the land, somebody else (state, county or concessionaire) operates the campground. Call the number on the recreation.gov listing rather than the district office. NIGHTLY RATE NOT VERIFIED unless a dollar figure appears above -- neither RIDB nor the Gateway published one for most WV sites, and the Corps' own Huntington District website (www.lrh.usace.army.mil) was unreachable this fire: it served a TLS certificate that does not list its own hostname. Do not print a price we have not read. DRINKING WATER: not stated by either federal source for this site. Not claimed here. | auto:agency-trust 2026-08-18: state agency GIS record with a source URL and coordinates, confidence not low. Fee value is the agency's own, not field-checked. Not field-verified -- confirm access, road conditions and fire rules before you go.

What we don’t know about Robert W. Craig Campground
A land record can put you within a few meters of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
- Whether a listed EV charger works today, or the road miles to it
