Read the terms FIRST, because this one has three: it is TENT ONLY, it is a TWO-NIGHT MAXIMUM, and it is BY RESERVATION -- you must call Rosalia City Hall at 509-523-5991 before you turn up. And although the town says the fee is 'donation only,' that is not the same as nothing: pay the donation, and be generous about it, because that is what keeps spots like this open. With those understood, this is the real thing -- the Town of Rosalia says plainly on its own website that tent camping is allowed in Rosalia City Park, a green town park with a covered picnic area, a kids' play area and a small kitchen that can be rented for gatherings. Rosalia is a Palouse wheat town of about 600 on US-195 roughly 30 miles south of Spokane, and it sits right on the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail, which makes this a genuinely useful overnight for cyclists and hikers crossing the state -- the trail runs a long dry stretch through here, so a legal, welcoming patch of grass in town matters. Do not confuse this with the town's OTHER camping: Rosalia also runs a paid RV park with power a couple of hundred yards north, which does charge and does not take tents. The city park is the tent-and-donation one. If you are in a rig, ask city hall which one they mean when you call. Confidence is HIGH -- this comes from the Town of Rosalia's own website, the operator itself -- but small-town rules change and this one needs a phone call anyway, so confirm the current rules with the town before you go, camp quietly, spend a little in Rosalia while you are there, and leave no trace.
