Bureau of Land Management lists this site. On most of their ground you can camp away from developed sites pretty much anywhere — so treat this as a known-good spot, not the only one allowed. The unit sets stay limits and how far off road and water you must be. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
FREE BLM campground on the west bank of the Green River, ~4 miles south of Fontenelle Reservoir and just north of Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge. EVIDENCE FOR FREE, BLM's own description verbatim: "Free facilities for this area include designated camping sites, 2 ADA accessible vault toilets, picnic areas and fishing access to the Green River." CAVEAT ON THAT EVIDENCE: BLM's live page has NO Fees section for this site, so the free claim rests entirely on the word "Free" inside that sentence rather than on a Fees field -- weaker than the Buffalo Creek or Blucher Creek rows. A reviewer should confirm before shipping. CULTURAL SITE: "This site is near historic resources. Please do not collect or damage these resources." ACCESS: "west side of the Green River, approximately four miles south of Fontenelle Reservoir, off Highway 372." BLM's standard stay limit on Wyoming public land is 14 days; where BLM states it on the site's own page it is quoted below. Coordinate is BLM's own published facility point from gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (read 2026-08-17), cross-checked against the Geographic Coordinates printed on the site's own blm.gov page. It is a facility pin, not a surveyed campsite. SOURCE: https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/14716/1 --- NIGHT-SHIFT REVIEW 2026-08-19 (nightshift-verified) -- APPROVED. Re-fetched https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/14716/1 this fire. The page is live and still titled "Slate Creek Campground | Wyoming". The sentence the free claim rests on is still there verbatim: "Free facilities for this area include designated camping sites, 2 ADA accessible vault toilets, picnic areas and fishing access to the Green River." BLM's printed Geographic Coordinates are still 41.982707, -110.045444, matching this row to the digit. Cross-checked the same day against gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (layer 8, BLM Natl RIDB Facilities Camping). THE CAVEAT THIS ROW RAISED IS STILL TRUE AND I AM APPROVING IN SPITE OF IT, so read it: the page still has NO Fees section, and BLM's GIS fee attribute for this facility is blank too, so "free" rests on BLM's own use of the word "Free" inside a description sentence rather than on a fee field. That is BLM saying it in BLM's own words about this exact site, which I judge good enough to ship -- but it is weaker footing than the "No Fee." rows, and worth a call to the Kemmerer Field Office (307-828-4500) if it is ever challenged. Nothing this row claims has changed since it was written.

On the agency's books. The land manager inventoried this site, so its existence is not in question — current conditions are. Nobody from here has camped it recently.
