The land manager lists this site. Someone from the agency inventoried it, so it is a real camp — not a spot we guessed at. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Aurora's Streeter Park is the best free city-park campground we have verified in Nebraska, and it is a genuine one: the city's own parks page says camping is FREE, with free electrical hookups, free water and a free dump station. The limit is four nights per stay, first-come first-serve with no reservations. Roughly eighteen sites on level gravel pads with 30-amp electric, water and a picnic table, fitting rigs up to about 35 feet. There is a donation drop box under the shelter at the campground entrance -- the city asks, it does not require, and dropping a few dollars in is the decent thing to do. You are about four blocks from downtown Aurora and right next to the municipal pool, ball fields, playgrounds and paved walking trails, and only a few miles off Interstate 80, which makes this an unusually easy overnight off the interstate. Honest caveats: it sits in town, so expect daytime road noise from the adjacent street and freight-train horns nearby at night. The deal these towns offer is simple: camp free, and they hope you buy fuel, groceries or dinner in town. Be a good guest and it stays free for the next traveler. Town rules change often and we have not visited -- confirm current rules with the town before you go.
