Scopan Public Land, T11 R4 WELS / Castle Hill, Aroostook County, near Presque Isle and Ashland. The map states: "Scopan's campsites are primitive. Each authorized site has a fire ring, picnic table, and a nearby privy." The map's own annotation for the Cold Spring / Sylvester / White Point group reads "These sites are only accessible from the water", with a boat launch on Hydro Rd. The Adirondack shelter site sits on the ATV trail north of Gate #2 at the north-west foot of Scopan Mountain: "The campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring and a .5-mile loop hiking trail, and is close to a stream." Scopan is NOT inside the North Maine Woods gate system. MAINE PUBLIC RESERVED LANDS -- THE RULES THAT APPLY HERE.
