DNR DESCRIPTION (from the agency's own recreation-search record): Located on the floodwaters of Tomahawk Creek, this rustic campground offers great opportunities for paddlesports and fishing. Located in Presque Isle County, 12.5 miles southeast of Onaway. This campground is managed by Onaway State Park . DNR LONGER DESCRIPTION: This two-unit, rustic campground is located on the Tomahawk Creek Flooding and is a popular fishing destination made famous by the flooded timbers at the lake’s south end. The area is known for hunting and wildlife viewing due to its abundance of wildlife, including elk, bear and whitetail deer. Many visitors also enjoy hiking and mountain biking on the High Country Pathway , which is accessible down the road from the campground. There are 47 campsites separated into two units, one on the northwest shore (west unit) and the other on the northeast shore (east unit). Sites 1-24 are at the east unit and sites 25-47 are at the west unit. The campsites are suitable for tent, small trailer or large trailer use. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump well. Campers are allowed to drive ORVs in and out of this campground to NEAREST TOWN: Onaway, about 12.5 miles, per the DNR description quoted above.
