Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
25 primitive sites in Connecticut Lakes State Forest, on the Connecticut River between Second and Third Connecticut Lakes and, in the state's own words, "just five minutes south of the Canadian border". Rate published on the park page: "$29.00 per night (no hookups)". Open full-time 5/22, last date 10/11; Cornpopper Cabin and sites 21 and 23 stay reservable into early November. Dogs are no longer allowed in Cornpopper Cabin. This is the most northerly public campground in New Hampshire and the cheapest state park rate. SOURCE: https://www.nhstateparks.org/find-parks-trails/deer-mountain-campground (read 2026-08-16). NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE PARK CAMPING -- THE RULES THAT APPLY HERE. DESIGNATED SITES ONLY: NH Code of Administrative Rules Res 7302.02(a) (read 2026-08-16 at gc.nh.gov/rules/state_agencies/res7300.html) says "No person shall camp on DRED properties except in designated campsites." There is no dispersed camping on a New Hampshire state park or state forest. STAY LIMIT: Res 7302.03(d) -- "Camping permits shall have a maximum duration of 14 consecutive days at all campgrounds unless extended pursuant to paragraph (e)." TRAIL SHELTERS: Res 7302.02(g) -- overnight stays at Cohos Trail shelters in Nash Stream state forest, at Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway shelters in Max Israel state forest and Pillsbury state park, "and other remote locations where overnight stays are permitted shall have a maximum duration of 2 consecutive nights." FEES (statewide table at https://www.nhstateparks.org/fees-reservations/camping-rates-reservations, read 2026-08-16): primitive campsite $29, standard $35, platform $35, lean-to $40, waterfront $40, water+electric (20/30) $45, plus a $7 reservation fee. NH residents 65+ get $5 off per site per night except holidays. Reservations are through ReserveAmerica / 1-877-NHPARKS. COORDINATE PROVENANCE: lat/lon is the state's OWN published park point from https://www.nhstateparks.org/App/Services/ParkList.asmx/GetParks?type=5a3cf536-dbcd-455d-8700-a21a499cd8b3 (read 2026-08-16). What we don’t know about Deer Mountain Campground
A land record can put you within a few meters of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
- Whether a listed EV charger works today, or the road miles to it
