Dykes Landing) on the Ocmulgee River, with no fee. Read the catches FIRST: it is a primitive boat-landing camp with NO drinking water, NO toilets, and NO dump station, so come fully self-contained and pack out everything (the ordinance actually requires RVers to keep their off-site dump receipts). There's room for tents and even big rigs (reviewers have fit ~50-footers), fire rings, and a pavilion, first come first served, right on the river SW of Cochran off Porter Road. The county caps stays at 7 days in any 31, so it's an overnight/short-stay stop, not a place to settle in -- and it can flood, so check the river before you commit to a low site. This is the honest small-town deal: camp free by the water, and spend a little in Cochran while you pass through. Confidence is HIGH (the county's own ordinance permits camping and sets no fee), but rules can change, so confirm the current rules with Bleckley County before you go and leave it better than you found it.
