U.S. Forest Service lists this as a developed campground. Expect marked sites, a fee station or a reservation, and the usual campground rules. The dispersed-camping freedom of the surrounding forest does not apply inside it. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Snow, and when this opens

The nearest automatic snow station is Bobs Hollow at 9,320 ft, about 6 miles away. It sits about 2,743 ft higher than this camp, so treat it as a guide rather than a reading for this spot. We do not repeat a depth here, because any number we stored would be stale by the time you read it — the station publishes today's.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Developed FEE campground (not free) - review | auto:usfs-fee 2026-08-20: US Forest Service developed campground, agency coordinates, agency states a fee. No dollar amount in the agency record -- expect a charge and confirm the current rate before you go. Not field-verified. | Fee 2026-08-24: no single-site rate is published by either channel, which is worth knowing before you drive in. The Fishlake NF page prints no amount, saying only that "Fees are subject to change seasonally" and to visit Recreation.gov. recreation.gov's rate table for the current 2026-05-01 to 2026-09-30 peak season contains ONLY group rows -- $80.00 per night for a group site up to 50 people, $110.00 up to 70 and $145.00 up to 90 -- and no standard-site row at all, even though the same listing enumerates 23 campsites of which most are standard non-electric. So the group price is published and the ordinary nightly rate is not. The Fishlake NF adds that every campground on the forest is run by the concessionaire High Country Recreation under a Forest Service permit and that fees are subject to change seasonally. On the agency's books. The land manager inventoried this site, so its existence is not in question — current conditions are. Nobody from here has camped it recently.
