Towner City Park (Towner)
Towner sits on US-2 in the Souris River valley, and its city park is a genuinely free stop on the Highline -- the Towner Community Club's own page lists the park as 'Free Camping' with tent room and four RV sites with electric, plus a picnic pavilion, tennis and basketball courts and a playground. Travellers consistently report a freewill donation box, and that a donation is asked for if you use the electric; treat it as donation-based rather than truly no-cost and put something in. Reports say there is no water at the sites themselves but there is a threaded faucet on the bathroom building at the northeast corner of the park -- that detail is from other campers, not the town, so arrive with water. No published night limit. Do not confuse Towner the city (McHenry County, on US-2) with Towner County, which is a different place 60 miles east. The deal these towns offer is simple: camp free, and they hope you buy fuel, groceries or dinner in town. Town rules change often and we have not visited -- confirm current rules with the town at (701) 537-5834 before you go.

How we know this
What we don’t know
A land record can put you within a few metres of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
