Twin Bridges Bike Camp (Jessen Park)

Drive-up · public land · MT · 45.54482, -112.33402
We haven't personally camped here. Everything below is pulled from public land data, USGS maps and OpenStreetMap — a real place on public land, but not field-checked by us. Confirm road conditions, current access, stay limits and fire restrictions before you go.

READ THIS FIRST: this one is built for BICYCLE travelers, and the town describes it that way. The Town of Twin Bridges' own page says the bike camp "allows bicyclists to stop for a quick break, spend the night, take a hot shower, or refuel their stomaches." It never says whether drivers or RVs may stay, and there is no posted night limit or season. If you are not on a bike, call the town office first at (406) 684-5243 rather than assuming. For cyclists on the MT-41 / Adventure Cycling corridor this is a gem: a purpose-built camp shelter at Jessen Park on the Beaverhead River, put up by the town in 2009, with level tent ground, an indoor seating and kitchen area, bike repair stands, a toilet, and a hot shower. No fee is charged, but donations are asked for: "Donations are requested for the maintenance of the bike camp. There is a drop box and envelopes inside the bike camp building for your convenience." A town of 400 people built and maintains this for travelers -- use the drop box. Watch for lawn sprinklers on the camping grass (the mappers who surveyed it flag that specifically). Confirm current rules with the town office before you go. We have not visited this site.

How we know this

Montana municipal park records
Confidence
Researched — The record is detailed and internally consistent, and the coordinates land where the managing agency says this site is.
How it was placed
Source: Town of Twin Bridges official site, https://twinbridgesmt.com/twin-bridges-bike-camp -- quotes "allows bicyclists to stop for a quick break, spend the night, take a hot shower" and "Donations are requested for the maintenance of the bike camp" string-matched in the raw page body via data/fetch_town_page.py (no page date shown). Address 2829 MT Highway 41 S, Twin Bridges MT 59754 per the town's own Park Facilities page. Coordinate: OSM way 385674174 (name='Twin Bridges Bike Camp', tourism=camp_site, fee=no), full geometry pulled from api.openstreetmap.org and averaged over its 11 nodes -- the way spans only ~0.00048 deg lat x 0.00105 deg lon (roughly 50m x 80m), so the centroid is unambiguous and sits inside it. OSM supplied the coordinate ONLY; the fee/donation status is the town's own words. Verified 2026-07-20 22:55:26.

What we don’t know

A land record can put you within a few metres of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.

Before you go

Been here? Tell us what changed. This page is built from public records, so the fastest way it gets better is somebody who has actually pulled in. Road washed out, site gone, gate locked, or it is exactly as described — all of it useful. Send a report →
