The land manager lists this site. Someone from the agency inventoried it, so it is a real camp — not a spot we guessed at. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

THE PIN IS A BOAT LANDING, NOT A CAMPSITE. Camping on the Waccamaw River Heritage Preserve is legal only on the riverbanks and sandbars, reached on foot or by boat, five consecutive nights maximum in any one spot. Sandbars move and flood -- read the river, not the map. No potable water anywhere out there.
