Bureau of Land Management lists this site. On most of their ground you can camp away from developed sites pretty much anywhere — so treat this as a known-good spot, not the only one allowed. The unit sets stay limits and how far off road and water you must be. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Snow, and when this opens

The nearest automatic snow station is Larsen Creek at 8,880 ft, about 3 miles away. It sits about 320 ft higher than this camp, so treat it as a guide rather than a reading for this spot. We do not repeat a depth here, because any number we stored would be stale by the time you read it — the station publishes today's.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
FREE developed BLM campground at the south end of the Wind River Range. FEE, BLM's own Fees section, verbatim: "No Fee." The description repeats it: "Stay limit is 14 days. There are no fees associated with this site." STAY LIMIT: 14 days. SITES: BLM's accessibility description (uploaded January 2025) says "The campground has 7 drive-up campsites connected by a graded dirt pathway. There are no walk-in sites. There is one accessible single vault toilet at the east end of the campground. The site also has a warming hut with a wood-burning stove, but there is a step up at the entrance. Each site has an accessible picnic table with an extended end to accommodate wheelchair users. Three of the sites have accessible fire rings with grill attachments." WATER: "There is no potable water or cell phone reception." SHADE: "No picnic shelters are available, but tree coverage provides some shade." ACCESS: BLM's directions run 15 mi of county road, 3.3 mi of BLM 4105, 4 mi of BLM 4110, then along the Continental Divide Snow Machine Trail -- this is a long way down dirt. NEAREST TOWN: BLM's own figures, 74 miles from Rock Springs and 70 miles from Lander. Coordinate is BLM's own published facility point from gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (read 2026-08-17), cross-checked against the Geographic Coordinates printed on the site's own blm.gov page. It is a facility pin, not a surveyed campsite. SOURCE: https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/272281/1 --- NIGHT-SHIFT REVIEW 2026-08-19 (nightshift-verified) -- APPROVED. Re-fetched https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/272281/1 this fire. The page is live and still titled "Blucher Creek Campground | Wyoming". The Fees section still reads "No Fee." and the description still says "Stay limit is 14 days. There are no fees associated with this site." The January 2025 accessibility text is still there word for word, including "There is no potable water or cell phone reception." BLM's printed Geographic Coordinates are still 42.56183, -109.141634, matching this row to the digit. Cross-checked the same day against gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/recreation/BLM_Natl_Recreation_Sites_Facilities (layer 8, BLM Natl RIDB Facilities Camping). Nothing this row claims has changed since it was written.
Field check
On the agency's books. The land manager inventoried this site, so its existence is not in question — current conditions are. Nobody from here has camped it recently.

What we don’t know

A land record can put you within a few metres of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.

Before you go

Been here? Tell us what changed. This page is built from public records, so the fastest way it gets better is somebody who has actually pulled in. Road washed out, site gone, gate locked, or it is exactly as described — all of it useful. Send a report →
