- Surface water mapped nearby: USGS maps Detroit Lake as a perennial lake or pond, under 0.1 mi from the pin (National Hydrography Dataset, data refreshed October 2022). Mapped as perennial is not the same as flowing today. Nobody has checked it for you. Filter or boil anything you drink.
- Ground slope around the pin: about 7.6% — gentle. Measured on USGS's 3DEP elevation model (1 m data here), sampled every 10 metres around the point. That is the hillside, not the ground under your wheels — a graded pullout or a bench a few metres across is too small to show up at that spacing, and nobody has checked this one for you.

The cable on his unit runs 150 feet, which is usually all it takes to find enough sky. How it was placed
Developed FEE campground (not free) - review | auto:usfs-fee 2026-08-20: US Forest Service developed campground, agency coordinates, agency states a fee. No dollar amount in the agency record -- expect a charge and confirm the current rate before you go. Not field-verified. | Fee 2026-08-22: no nightly rate could be read from any agency source, and this row needs a human look for a second reason. Despite being carried here as a Forest Service record (land_manager USFS, source usfs/2241954), Detroit State Park is an Oregon Parks and Recreation Department facility; the Forest Service recreation-site layer lists it only because it falls inside the Willamette NF Detroit Ranger District, and that record has fee charged Y with no amount, no season, and no link of any kind. Willamette NF publishes no campground page for it -- its https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/willamette/recreation/detroit-lake page has no fee section. recreation.gov has no campground within 0.84 mi of our pin. OPRD's own site (stateparks.oregon.gov) answered every request with HTTP 503 and www.oregon.gov/oprd/PRP/Pages/PRP-fees.aspx returned 404, so no state rate could be read. Treat the location as unconfirmed too: our pin is about 1.1 mi northeast of the Detroit Lake State Recreation Area campground. This one needs an Oregon State Parks pass, not a Forest Service one.
