A very nice primitive campsite only six miles from downtown Silver City, New Mexico. Located in Gila National Forest, the surrounding area is worthy of exploration. This is a fine place to spend the weekend, and can accommodate two or three overland vehicles. Javelina are present here. This is a higher elevation, a short distance off of a well-traveled forest road. There is ample tree cover for shade. It is a little dusty and a little rocky. There is a fire ring. Due to proximity to town, there is the possibility of local traffic. Recommended. Surprisingly good cell service.

- Surface water mapped nearby: Little Bear Tank (water). That is wash water at best, and nobody has checked it for you — a creek can be dry and a tank can be mud. Filter or boil anything you drink. USGS maps no named surface water within 1 mi of the pin (National Hydrography Dataset, data refreshed October 2022).
- Ground slope around the pin: about 1.7% — flat. Measured on USGS's 3DEP elevation model (1 m data here), sampled every 10 metres around the point. That is the hillside, not the ground under your wheels — a graded pullout or a bench a few metres across is too small to show up at that spacing, and nobody has checked this one for you.
