Ask about this camp →U.S. Forest Service lists this as a developed campground. Expect marked sites, a fee station or a reservation, and the usual campground rules. The dispersed-camping freedom of the surrounding forest does not apply inside it. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Confidence
Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Developed FEE campground (not free) - review | auto:usfs-fee 2026-08-20: US Forest Service developed campground, agency coordinates, agency states a fee. No dollar amount in the agency record -- expect a charge and confirm the current rate before you go. Not field-verified. | Fee 2026-08-22: $16 per night for a standard non-electric RV or tent site, plus $6 per vehicle per night for extra vehicles. All three agency channels agree on the $16. The electric site price is less certain: the forest's structured fee box and recreation.gov both say $32 per night, but the prose lower on the same forest page says $30, so budget $32. recreation.gov's 2026 peak season (Jun 1 to Sep 30) also lists a group non-electric site at $50. One obvious typo to ignore -- the forest prose prints 'Extra vehicle = $60' next to the electric site, which its own fee box and the non-electric line both give as $6. Interagency Senior and Access, Golden Age and Golden Access passes get 50 percent off, subject to the concession operator's policies. What we don’t know about Mud Lake Campground
A land record can put you within a few meters of a spot. It cannot tell you any of this — so check it yourself, and treat anything below as the open question it is.
- Road surface & last-mile access
- How many rigs actually fit
- Cell coverage by carrier
- Seasonal & winter access
- Current fire restrictions
- Whether any water here is drinkable
- Shade & wind exposure
- Noise and who else shows up
- Whether a listed EV charger works today, or the road miles to it
