U.S. Forest Service lists this as a developed campground. Expect marked sites, a fee station or a reservation, and the usual campground rules. The dispersed-camping freedom of the surrounding forest does not apply inside it. What changes is conditions — roads, gates, closures, fire rules. Check those with the unit before you commit to the drive.

Snow, and when this opens

The nearest automatic snow station is Black Flat-U.M. Ck at 9,420 ft, about 5 miles away. It sits about 571 ft higher than this camp, so treat it as a guide rather than a reading for this spot. We do not repeat a depth here, because any number we stored would be stale by the time you read it — the station publishes today's.

Likely — The record is good enough to put a pin on, but thin in places. Treat the details as a starting point, not gospel.
How it was placed
Developed FEE campground (not free) - review | auto:usfs-fee 2026-08-20: US Forest Service developed campground, agency coordinates, agency states a fee. No dollar amount in the agency record -- expect a charge and confirm the current rate before you go. Not field-verified. | Fee 2026-08-24: the two agency channels disagree by double, so both numbers are here. The Fishlake NF page prints "Single sites: $10 per night" and was last updated May 18, 2026; the Forest Service's own recreation-site record, read live this fire, says the same $10. recreation.gov's rate table for the CURRENT 2026-05-15 to 2026-09-14 peak season carries $20.00 standard non-electric instead, and has carried $20 in every block from 2025 through 2028. Two agency channels say $10 and one says $20 -- carry $20 and expect the fee tube to be the authority, because the forest states this campground is first-come, first-served and that "Fee information will be posted at the campground on kiosk and pay tubes." The Fishlake NF adds that every campground on the forest is run by the concessionaire High Country Recreation under a Forest Service permit and that fees are subject to change seasonally.
